A School for the Age of Agency

Acton Academy Columbus is a learner-driven microschool in Dublin, Ohio, where children grow in kindness, confidence, and ownership of their learning.

In our mixed-age studios, learners set meaningful goals, work at their own pace, and tackle real-world projects—all within a community that values character as highly as academics.

The Enrollment Process

Our admissions journey is designed to give your family a clear, honest look at learner-driven education—and to help us discern fit together.

01
Step 1
Parent Survey

Share your child’s story, strengths, and challenges, as well as your hopes for their next school experience.

02
Step 2
Intro Conversation

A short call to answer questions, learn more about your family, and make sure our philosophy aligns with what you’re seeking.

03
Step 3
Info Call

A deeper conversation about your child, our studios, expectations, and whether Acton could be a strong fit for your learner and family.

04
Step 4
Learner Interview

A one-on-one conversation with your child to learn about their interests, personality, and readiness for our learner-driven studios.

05
Step 5
Learner Trial Day

Your child (not parents) spends a full day with our Eagles, joining in core skills, quest work, and community routines to experience Acton from the inside.

06
Step 6
Fill Out the Application

After the trial day, you’ll receive the application form. Once it’s completed and reviewed, we’ll follow up with next steps for enrollment and onboarding.

Voices from Our Community

Our best “marketing” is the growth families see in their Eagles—on the inside and outside.

Growth & Confidence

“Acton awakened something in my child—confidence, joy, and initiative. She doesn’t just talk about school; she brings ideas home that she wants to keep working on.”

— Parent, Growth Studio
Thinking, Not Memorizing

“Our daughter is learning how to think, not what to think. The questions she asks and the way she solves problems feel so different from our own school experience.”

— Parent, Discovery Studio
Character & Community

“We see more empathy, discipline, and responsibility. He cares about his studio, not just himself—and that matters more than any test score.”

— Parent, Adventure Studio

Admissions FAQ

What makes Acton different from traditional schools?
Acton combines Montessori principles, Socratic discussions, mastery learning, and hands-on projects in learner-driven studios. Eagles take meaningful responsibility for their work and behavior every day.
What happens during the trial day?
Your child joins a studio for the full day as an Eagle. They participate in launches, Core Skills, quest work, project time, and studio routines to experience the culture from the inside.
How do we know if Acton is the right fit?
We look for curiosity, kindness, and a willingness to take initiative. Acton is especially powerful for learners who are ready for independence and families who value character as much as academic growth.
Do you assign homework?
Our goal is deep, focused work during the school day so learners can enjoy evenings with family, rest, and personal projects. We do not send home traditional daily homework sheets.
Can we join mid-year?
When space is available and the fit is right, we do consider mid-year transfers. Reach out to learn about current openings in each studio.
