The choice to enroll our children in Acton Academy Columbus was a very thoughtful process. We wanted our children to be able to progress in academics at a pace that was dependent on their skills and understanding. We were looking for a school that allowed them the independence to grow and explore while learning academics, social skills, entrepreneurship and plenty of time in play.
With twins, we could see over the last few years in a different school that they needed to be able to move ahead when they were ready and not dictated on class timing. We absolutely love that they can each spend as much time as they need on their academic core skills and progress when they need to, at different times.
They each have their own strengths and interests and Acton allows them to explore those interests while developing leadership capacity, STEM based skills, communication faculty, problem solving and group work ability.
There have been numerous examples when they have been allowed the time and space to discuss and work through communication and social disputes at school with their classmates. This dialogue is incredible to be able to hear about from our children as we believe the ability to work through issues with others is a lifelong skill that takes practice in a safe setting, in which Acton fosters.
Our children ask to arrive early every single day and stay as late as possible as well. They love school at Acton and we are so fortunate to have found a school that encourages them in their interests and fosters excitement about lifetime education.
